Studios

In a four hectare rural setting, Sturt studios offers training, recreation, residency and production opportunities across a range of art and design mediums.

Sturt Pottery
The pottery has two distinct teaching areas with extra space for visiting artists in residence. Large and small gas and electric kilns, all renewed within the last five years, complement our historic outdoor wood kilns used for annual Winter firings.

The Alan Wale Studio / Sturt School for Wood
The world-class Sturt School for Wood has been training Australia’s finest furniture makers since 1985. This building has a dedicated machine room and space for up to 12 full-time students.

Lower Wood School
This space offers weekly classes, specialist weekend courses, plus space for a number of recent graduates of the Sturt School for Wood. Completely upgraded in 2015, this Lower Wood School offers a large and airy teaching room with a dedicated machine room that’s separated by sound-proof glass.

Jewellery / Metalwork Studio
After a complete upgrade in 2019, this high quality studio hosts a full range of tools and equipment that enables a broad range of making options.

Design & Fabrication Studios
Established in 2015, the Design Studio is a state-of-the-art facility with two flexible teaching spaces that include laser cutting, digital routing and 3D printing with associated computer design programs.
