Arts Trail Southern Highlands

Weekends 7-8 November & 14-15 November

We are very pleased to be a part of this year’s Arts Trail that will include over 80 artists across 37 studios and 9 galleries. Don’t miss this once a year chance to wander the Southern Highlands experiencing the work of local creatives, meeting artists, seeing where and how they create their work and the opportunity to buy something wonderful directly from the maker. Our major exhibition in Sturt Gallery, Hiroe Swen – a lifetime in ceramics, will be on show over both Arts Trail weekends, Sturt Café will be open and our gardens are looking wonderful after a big program of improvements carried out by our Frensham Schools gardening team. See the full program at artsfile.com.au

Artist in Residence

After so many cancellations and interruptions to our residency program this year, we have been able to end on a high note and welcome Machiko Motoi as our artist in residence in the Pottery for term 4. Machiko is a NSW based artist who completed her MFA at the National Art School in 2016. Machiko has been delivering ceramics workshops for young people in recent times at a number of different institutions including Sturt, but is keen to really get serious about creating new work while she is with us as her normal “studio” is her kitchen table!
