| Life Before Sturt | After 40 years working in the nursing profession and raising a family, I was delighted to be accepted into Sturt School for Wood as a complete beginner, to explore something I had always dreamt of doing "some day" - namely woodwork.

| Designing and Making Philosophy |
Over one's lifetime, tastes and needs are frequently being red-defined. Three recent
episodes of house moving to third floor units without lifts have directed me towards
smaller, lighter pieces. I have always liked simple symmetrical, functional furniture, and
love having proper places to put things.

| Life After Sturt |
I am hoping to set up house with a workshop somewhere out of Sydney over the next few
years where I will practise what I have learnt here at Sturt. I plan to keep myself busy
and content in retirement, and make gifts for my children, grandchildren, nieces and
nephews that will last longer than I will.

| Acknowledgments |
Special thanks to Tom for his patience with my ignorance, and to my fellow students for
their readiness to help and encourage me.
