Student Profile
Life Before Sturt    Before coming to Sturt this year I worked as a Mathematics teacher at Frensham. It was my experience at Adult Education Woodwork classes that inspired me to take a year's leave from my job to expand my knowledge and skills in woodwork at the Sturt School for Wood.

Designing and Making Philosophy    I find wood and working with wood fascinating and rewarding. It is the transformation from raw materials to the finished product and the beauty revealed during the process that I find exciting and fulfilling. My major project, a Hallstand made from Jarrah reflects the fascinating journey as well as giving me the perfect opportunity to learn and practise a wide range of cabinet making techniques.

Life After Sturt    I will be returning to my teaching position next year but look forward to working with wood, as a hobby, in my workshop at home.

Acknowledgements    Special thanks to Ian for all his help, support and encouragement and to my classmates for their kindness, fun and enthusiasm.
