Sturt was established in 1941 and is the oldest craft centre in Australia. Sturt has a rich history and an important place in Australia's craft movement and has a large collection of post-war contemporary craft as well as extensive archive materials that record Sturt's history including photographs, written material including important correspondence, print material including posters and programs, plans, legal documents and other ephemera. The Sturt collection is housed is a purpose-made archive building converted from a former laundry. Our collection can be made available for research purposes.
