14 Knit, weave, lace + wire with Angharad Rixon

Explore different textile techniques that translate into metal wire. Learn to knit like a Viking, free-form knitting, tablet weaving, braiding and bobbin lace; examining ways these techniques were used historically and by contemporary makers. Each technique will be learned by making a small project; a Viking knit bangle, knitted pendant, tablet-woven bracelet, braided chain and the choice of a bobbin lace pendant or earrings. An ideal course for makers from all genres of fine craft, providing pathways to inform your work in new ways.
Angharad Rixon is a technical textile historian specialising in lace and passementerie; her studies in Italy, Switzerland and Spain have led to her skills in a variety of off-loom techniques. Angharad lectures in Milan and Florence and consults for museums and universities around the world.
