11 Introduction to marquetry with Peter Young

Using the double bevel technique, learn to create two images; one to use as a box lid and the other to be used as a tray. Learn how to choose and handle veneer, hot sand shading, gluing strategies and finishing. You will go home with a finished tray and a box. In addition you will have a cutting stand and specialist saw to continue doing your own marquetry in the future.
Peter Young focuses on individually designed and handcrafted furniture, dedicated to excellence and a focus on technical detail, frequently featuring marquetry and parquetry. A former research scientist, Peter returned to his first passion, retraining in USA, Canada and Australia. Peter teaches across the country including at Sturt School for Wood and is a frequent contributor to the Australian Wood Review magazine.
