07 Weaving with the WOW factor with Sue Walker

Create unique textured textiles working with traditional and experimental techniques and materials. Weave on pre-warped looms, experimenting with techniques that create texture, highlight unusual threads, yarns and colours weaving fabrics that collapse, shrink, stretch and felt using traditional and non-traditional materials. Students will create a number of samples and complete a project of their choice. For those with some experience you may bring your own loom and yarns if you wish. 
Sue Walker has had life-long connection to the textile arts, knitting, crochet, sewing, machine embroidery, macramé, screen-printing, weaving – anything involving thread, yarn or fabric. With extensive teaching experience in schools, TAFE, community college and university, Sue also runs an online business selling weaving and knitting supplies.

Sue is passionate about creating and supplying beautiful hand dyed yarns and fibres for other textile artists. With a wide range of yarns at her fingertips, she enjoys experimenting with unusual yarns including paper, wire, felted wool as well as hand dyed wools and silks.
